I Giardini dell'Olobionte I
Pencil on Paper
31 x 31 cm
An experimental work of speculative architecture that draws inspiration from the organic and biological consistencies of living materials hybridized with elements of interconnected ecosystemic fantasies.
The holobiont* is the sum of different organisms that thrive in symbiosis, a sort of intercultural commune composed of living beings who have different languages but share food, shelter, resources and protect each other to overcome the tests of existence and pursue a common purpose.
“I Giardini dell'Olobionte I” is a commissioned work for Al Doum and The Faryds “Freaky People”

A landscape appears. A symbiotic Realm, enriched with life and languages, abundance, erotic vegetal cults, votive altars, interspecies involvement, sensory alchemy and organic fountains pouring blood and pumping oxygen.
These sculptures remind us of the essence of life, they float and rise between earth and water, celebrating the Great Body and all Living Beings.
Kneel before these grand altars, gather with gratitude and delight.
The body is not a singleton, it is an eternal coitus among individuals who speak different languages and codes.
The organism owes its life to a sympathetic spirit made by a million particles, clinging to one another, in mutual aid, inhabiting the same commune.
Thus apparatuses, systems, lungs, livers and uteruses connect with humours, globules, bacteria, ribosomes and platelets, each with their own language.
Organs communicate in biological Esperanto : they operate to self-regulate and sustain one another.
The gelatinous sphere melts in the puddle of a sentient being, greasing the wheels of the short circuit in process.
Guzzling, gasping, gobbling, groping.
Little black snakes, trickles on the surface, conductors and fertilizers of soil and water, affect the Garden dwellers's behaviour.
This matter is a metaphor, modelled on an event which wrecked the former order of possibility : the creation of trinitite, the glassy residue originated after the explosion of the first nuclear bomb test on July 16th, 1945.
Can destructive force bring new matter to life?
If so, what is the potential of pleasure and chiliadic ingenuity, the enthusiasm for invention, the opening gates of imagination and playful attitude, all inscribed in the self-pollinating appetite of the cosmos?
Symbols come and visit us.
The Garden thrives and blooms when the intuition starts to be one with the circumvolutions of what is observed.
The Oxytocin's Handmaid carries a handless clock on her head.
Its golden wheels inscribe Time of Understanding, with no beginning or ending, unpunctuated.
The Neuronal Ambassadors learn how to become professional beggars.
Some of them play the game which will decide the fate of life in the Weird Realm, others float in the lagoon whose water bestow the Ego a diaphanous property.

The second version “I Giardini dell’Olobionte II”
The vegetation is colored with pink hues that recall organic fabrics, the sea shells blend in with the plants.
Each element has an impact on the other.
A rainbow cascade sprinkles the iridescence of a sphere resting on a mother-of-pearl in which the biofluid pearls float that reel some of the secreted liquids essential for life: blood, milk, lymph, sperm, serum.
The human presence in this scenario is resized to be seen among the smallest details of the landscape: couples of lovers who rest inside drops of dew or embraced in spheres that possess the ethereal transparency of flower petals, at the same time resembling a placenta.
One wallows in the hormonal fluid, another performs a synchronized swim with Elysia Chlorotica, a marine organism capable of reproducing the photosynthesis process, thus allowing it to live thanks to solar energy, exactly as if it were a plant.
Elysia is an exceptional example of the convergence of worlds and languages: the animal and the vegetable.
The generating waters that occupy the central space of the drawing represent the mysterious place that gives origin and nourishment to all the organisms present.
In this primordial liquid in which the altars and fountains are located, we can see the presence of siphonophores, a class of hydrozoans from the abyss whose life cycle regenerates itself continuously, classifying them as immortal jellyfish, since once they reach sexual maturity they return to the state of polyp and then start the cycle all over again.
Even the siphonophores have the characteristic of being groups of organisms that temporarily unite to form a single being, but in reality each of them
he specializes in a particular task that he performs for the benefit of the entire community.
different intelligences, methods and languages can inspire relational processes.
The holobiont and its garden make up the Edenic metaphor of how, according to the artist, we have always lived, but of how the aesthetic transposition of this enormous process can help to remind us of it.
The deeper the treasure is buried, the more precious it will seem to us
Behind every detail hides a pleasant tickle
The enigma makes us alive
*The holobiont is a concept introduced by the microbiologist Lynn Margulis who developed the theory of endosymbiosis, the hypothetical evolutionary process according to which in Margulis's own words "life did not conquer the Earth through bitter struggle, but through cooperation between species "
