The artwork is the result of specific researches in the field of Renaissance clothing, thanks to books on history of fashion and Italian, Dutch, French museums pictures.
The collar and cuffs, called reticello, have a needle lace of Venetian origin from the XV century, popular in Italy, France and the Netherlands, which consist of a squared grid that pierce the linen, which is then decorated with designs like flowers, diamonds and squares.
The patterns for the reticello were designed by Mathio Pagan in Venice in 1542, by Frederick de Vinciolo in France in 1587 and Cesare Vecelio, in Italy in 1590 that can be found in a book printed in 1617.

The doublet, also called pourpoint, was a padded male garment, linen lined in the inner layers and silk for the exterior and is one of the leading men's clothing of XV and XVI century, considered as a key garment across Middle Ages to the Renassaince's fashion.
